Description
Commando SFP-UTP-10G 10GBASE-T Copper RJ45 SFP+ 30M CAT6A/7 Transceiver
The Commando SFP-UTP-10G is a 10GBASE-T copper SFP+ transceiver designed to provide RJ45 connectivity through compatible 10Gbps SFP+ ports.
Instead of using a conventional optical SFP+ module and fiber patch cable, this module allows a compatible SFP+ switch, router or server interface to connect to a standard RJ45 Ethernet connection using Cat6A or Cat7 cable.
With a stated transmission distance of up to 30 meters, it is particularly useful for short-distance connections within server rooms, network cabinets and data centers.
Key Features
- 10Gbps Ethernet connectivity
- 10GBASE-T copper interface
- RJ45 connector
- SFP+ form factor
- Up to 30m transmission distance
- Designed for Cat6A/Cat7 Ethernet cabling
- Multi-vendor compatible design
- Suitable for compatible SFP+ switches, routers and network equipment
- Useful alternative to short-range 10G optical SFP+ modules
- Plug-in modular design for compatible SFP+ ports
Typical Applications
The Commando SFP-UTP-10G can be used for:
- 10Gbps switch-to-switch connections
- Switch-to-server connectivity
- Server and storage networking
- Data centre rack connections
- Network equipment interconnection
- Short-distance 10G Ethernet links
- Upgrading compatible SFP+ ports to RJ45 copper
- Connecting SFP+ networking equipment to existing structured copper cabling
Why Use a 10GBASE-T Copper SFP+?
For short links, copper can be a convenient alternative to deploying a complete optical connection. If your network already uses Cat6A or Cat7 structured cabling, the SFP-UTP-10G can provide a way of connecting compatible SFP+ equipment to that copper infrastructure.
This makes it especially useful where the two network devices are located within the module’s supported 30-metre range.
Compatibility
The module is labelled “Multi-vendor Compatible”. However, SFP+ compatibility can vary between switches, routers and servers because some manufacturers enforce transceiver coding or compatibility restrictions.
Always confirm that your equipment supports 10GBASE-T copper SFP+ modules before ordering.
